Alpin
OUTDOOR WHEELCHAIR PLATFORM LIFT UP TO 4 METRES
Alpin is an outdoor vertical platform lift that carries a wheelchair user up to 4 metres without a lift shaft or a pit. It is built by Lehner Lifttechnik in Austria and is now available in the UAE through Flex Access. It gives villas, schools, clinics and public buildings step-free access where an elevator would be too costly or a ramp too long.

Typical Applications
What Is Alpin?
Alpin is a vertical platform lift for outdoor and semi-outdoor height differences of up to 4,000 mm. It carries a wheelchair user, or a person standing, on an open platform that runs on a one-piece drive tower. The platform floor is only 70 mm thick, so no pit has to be dug and no lift shaft has to be built.
Alpin is manufactured by Lehner Lifttechnik GmbH (Austria) and TÜV certified to EN 81-41. It is now available in the UAE. Flex Access supplies, installs and maintains it across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the other emirates.
Why Choose Alpin
No shaft, no pit
Mounts to an existing wall or stands on its own next to the entrance, with no excavation or shaft construction.
Up to 4 metres
Covers anything from a few entrance steps to a full storey, including raised podiums and upper ground floors.
Double chain drive
A robust, low-maintenance drive with smooth, steady travel at 0.11 m/s.
Flexible entry and exit
Board and exit on the same side, straight through, or at 90 degrees, depending on the site.
Finish to match the building
Coated in RAL 9007 as standard, with any RAL colour or a stainless steel version available.
Open or enclosed
Runs as an open platform with safety glass walls, or with an optional glass and aluminium shaft or a cabin.
An Outdoor Lift Without the Building Work
A conventional outdoor elevator needs a shaft, a pit and structural work around both. Alpin needs none of these. The drive tower arrives in one piece, and the platform travels on it behind safety glass walls. The lift can be fixed to an existing wall or balcony, or it can stand on its own.
A ramp for a 1 metre rise at a 1:12 gradient runs about 12 metres. Alpin covers up to 4 metres on a 1,050 x 1,400 mm platform. That makes it a practical retrofit wherever the entrance is already built and there is no room for a ramp.

Safety Built for an Open Platform
An open platform with no shaft has two jobs. It has to protect the rider from falling, and it has to protect anyone underneath from the moving platform. Alpin's safety equipment covers both.
- A pressure-sensitive safety floor under the platform stops travel if it meets an obstacle
- Doors and folding barriers lock during travel, and the platform will not move while one is open
- An overspeed governor with safety gear holds the platform on its rails if it ever descends too fast
- An overload device sounds a buzzer and blocks travel when the load is exceeded
- Hold-to-run controls, an emergency stop and an alarm button that works during a power cut
- Key-switch call stations at each landing prevent unauthorised use
- An emergency hand wheel lets trained staff lower the platform if power fails
Key Applications
Villas with raised entrances
For front doors or garden levels that sit several steps above the driveway, where a ramp would take over the frontage.
Schools and universities
Step-free access to raised entrances, stages and podium levels, with key-switch control at each landing.
Clinics and rehabilitation centres
Dependable access for wheelchair users and patients who cannot manage steps, with simple controls they can operate themselves.
Public buildings and parks
Outdoor access across level changes in public spaces, finished in a colour that suits the surroundings.
Alpin Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Alpin lift available in the UAE?
Yes. Alpin is now available in the UAE. Flex Access supplies, installs and maintains it across Abu Dhabi, Dubai and the wider UAE.
Does Alpin need a lift shaft or a pit?
No. Alpin runs on a one-piece drive tower with a 70 mm platform, so it installs without a shaft or a pit. An enclosed glass and aluminium shaft is available as an option.
How high can Alpin lift?
Up to 4,000 mm, with a 300 kg load capacity on a standard 1,050 x 1,400 mm platform.
Can Alpin handle UAE summer heat?
Alpin is rated for -30°C to +45°C. For exposed sites, Flex Access assesses sun exposure during the free site survey and recommends shading where needed.
How is Alpin different from Flex Step?
Flex Step replaces 2 to 6 steps, up to 1,295 mm, and works as a staircase when it is not in use. Alpin is a dedicated lift for larger rises of up to 4 metres, typically outdoors.
What maintenance does Alpin need?
The manufacturer specifies a first service about 6 months after commissioning, then at least once a year. More frequent service is needed for heavy use. Flex Access provides scheduled maintenance for every lift it installs.
